Youth Wisdom Network Mongolia
Connecting and Empowering Youth from Rural Mongolia
The project aims to organize educational empowerment activities focused on Mongolian rural high school children, aged between 15 to 18 years old. In Mongolia, education is mandatory by law, and every child should graduate at least 9th grade. However, the quality of education and teaching in rural areas is not comprehensive and competitive, leading to a disparity between rural and urban youths in terms of skills and opportunities. This difference contributes to the abandonment of higher education.
According to the state statistics committee data, 30% of the population lives in the countryside, divided into 330 small administration units, and 20% of Mongolian households are nomadic families.
The project aims to provide a wide range of education-related information and knowledge, including higher education and scholarships, details about Mongolian and world universities, career choice consultation, information on world professions and majors, city regulations and rules, and awareness about SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) to rural children and youths. This will be achieved through partnerships with domestic professional coaches, trainers, and organizations. The target beneficiaries of the project are Mongolian countryside high school students in grades 10, 11, and 12. By providing educational support and resources, the project aims to bridge the gap in opportunities and skills between rural and urban areas, empowering the youth in rural Mongolia to pursue higher education and better career prospects.
We aim to actively work towards narrowing the education disparity between urban and rural students. To achieve this, we will empower rural high school students in four focal key areas: education, personal development, learning and sharing, and facilitating their smooth transition into university or city life.
